All Four Js Genero customers with valid maintenance contracts have free access to the new releases.

 Notes :

  • During the installation of Genero Studio (GST) or the startup of Genero Report Designer (GRD) on some windows machines, you may get an error stating that the GSVersionSelectorAdmin fails and that the installation (or startup) is cancelled.

If this happened, install this Microsoft patch: Update for Universal C Runtime in Windows, then reboot your machine.
  • We tested GMI on a beta version of macOS 10.13 with XCode 9 and IOS 11.x, as the GA version has yet to be released. We will validate against the released version once it is made available.

 Best regards,

Happy for the announcement.
I would like to try it on Ubuntu for IBM Power 8.
Is it (or will be) available for download ?
Best regards.

Hello Enrico,

Four Js doesn't support the linux distribution Ubuntu or the equivalent Kubuntu Lubuntu etc....

It is a known to work Linux distribution. See the remark in the linux section of the supported OS DB list Genero 3.10.xx please:

http://4js.com/mirror/documentation.php?s=genero&f=fjs-genero-3.10.XX-PlatformsDb.pdf

On IBM Power architecture Genero 3.10 supports Linux Red Hat 6.5. There is no plan to support another Linux on Power server.

Does any other customer would like Four Js supporting another Linux distribution than RH 6.5 on IBM Power architecture ?

Best regards,

Thanks, Olivier.
When I talk about Ubuntu, I actually mean Debian based distributions, so it is a my mistake.
I well know that Ubuntu isn't supported, but it is a Debian based distribution and, beleave me, I'm using it with great satisfaction since 5 years in both development and deploy environment.
Now I'm testing IBM P8xx platform with Linux lpar(s) for performance reasons, and I'm interested obviously to Debian distribution.
Anyway I'll try Genero on P8 with Red Hat 6.5 hoping to have one day also Debian.
Kind regards.
Enrico

Just so you understand, for us to say an O/S is supported it means we have that server in our labs where we can build ports, run QA tests, and analyse reported issues.

If there isn't an O/S listed above, that you'd like supported, then we need to make a commercial decision wether the additional revenue exceeds the cost of the server and man hours for the build and QA tests.

So when Olivier says ...

... then thats an invitation for you and other customers who may also want that O/S to register their interest and help make a better business case.

None of us like to lose a big sale just because a particular O/S is not supported.
