Hello List,

I'll have to work with Windows CE Wireless Barcode Scanner.

I've heard that GDC didn't work with Windows CE. Is it true ?

Did someone resolve this trouble  ?

Thanks.

Hello,

Unfortunately yes, Windows CE is not supported by GDC.
The reason is quite simple: Win CE and Windows Desktop are two different OS, running on two different plaforms. An application built for Windows Dektop can't run on WinCE.

GDC relies on libraries which are not available on WinCE, this is why it is not supported.

These libraries are announced to be available in the future, but:
- this is a major update, which means this will not concern current GDC version, but a future one.
- we have no information on the time frame.
- we have only small ideas on how this will be supported, what will be the limitations.
- even if the libraries are ported, we still need to make GDC "small device" friendly.

Therefore I would suggest you to contact your support center for more details.

Have you also considered using the web client on your PDA ?

Hello,

this topic is quite out of date, therefore i would like to ask whether there was any improvement in using GDC with WinCE.

Thanks in advance

Hi Bystrik,

Unfortunately, GDC on Windows CE isn't yet planned for the moment.
However, just like some of our customers already do it, may I suggest you to use your PDA with our Genero web client (the GAS product) ?

Best regards,
