Title: IIUG Informix Database Survey
Post by: Reuben B. on July 14, 2015, 04:58:14 am
Hi,

In the latest IIUG (International Informix User Group) newsletter they highlighted a survey they are performing for features to be added to the Informix database.  See here http://www.iiug.org/insider/insider_jun15.php#R

There were two features I saw that I thought would be worthwhile for Genero developers using Informix databases.

#47787 - Implement a way to report the character length of NCHAR & NVARCHAR columns instead of the byte length - This would hopefully allow the usage of character length semantics in Informix like we can do with other databases https://4js.com/online_documentation/fjs-fgl-manual-html/#c_fgl_localization_022.html

#46234 - Implement Oracle style "flashback" database restore points. - For a developer and QA I see this being useful to be able to define a restore point, run your program, restore/rollback database quickly back to previous point, repeat ...

If you are an Informix database user, I would suggest participating in their survey.

If there are other features in that survey that you think would be beneficial to Genero developers, feel free to post them here.
