Something we see all too frequently is customers applying their Server/Desktop upgrade strategy to their Mobile environment.  With the upcoming release of Genero Enterprise 3.20, that includes Genero Mobile for Android (GMA) 1.40 and Genero Mobile for iOS (GMI) 1.40, it is an opportune time to remind you that you should consider an upgrade strategy for your Mobile environment that is suited for the Mobile world.

In the Mobile environment, you operate in a world that is controlled by Apple and Google/Android.  You operate in an environment where they set the rules, and these rules are fast moving.  A good example is where Google is setting rules around 64-bit apps and your App in the PlayStore: https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2019/01/get-your-apps-ready-for-64-bit.html

At Four Js, we aim to keep up with these rules when we enhance the GMA and GMI packages.  The 64-bit Android requirement, for example, is being catered for in the GMA 1.40 release.  It is NOT something we will backport to the older GMA 1.30 or GMA 1.20 releases.

We released GMA 1.40 and GMI 1.40 on June 26th 2019. Four Js supports this current Genero Mobile version 1.40. While Four Js will continue to fix some chosen bugs in GM 1.30 through December 2019, the future is with Genero Mobile 1.40.

We expect you to be planning for the next upgrade of your Genero Mobile app to be built using GMA 1.40/GMI 1.40 and Genero BDL 3.20.

Best regards,
